{"id":15,"date":"2017-05-22T20:08:34","date_gmt":"2017-05-22T23:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.beulahbaptistva.org\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2017-05-22T20:08:34","modified_gmt":"2017-05-22T23:08:34","slug":"how-to-become-a-christian","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.beulahbaptistva.org\/staging\/9848\/how-to-become-a-christian\/","title":{"rendered":"Become A Christian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 A Christian has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, tries to obey Him in all things, and draws on His strength to help with the challenges of life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God made us for Himself and our souls are restless until they find rest in Him.\u00a0 Only God can fill the void in your life.\u00a0 The answer to your search is accepting Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">To become a Christian, you need to know these basic facts from the Bible.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>God loves you.\u00a0 <\/strong>Because of God\u2019s love for all persons, He desires that you have unbroken fellowship with Him.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4-5)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>You are a sinner.<\/strong>\u00a0 All persons are sinners in that they disobey God.\u00a0 Sin is choosing to go your own way and do your own thing as opposed to being obedient to God.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Sin separates you from God.\u00a0 <\/strong>Sin forms a barrier that prevents you from entering into unbroken fellowship with God, Who is holy.\u00a0 As an unholy sinner, you can\u2019t have fellowship with God.\u00a0 You are headed for a Christless eternity that the Bible calls hell.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<strong>You can\u2019t save yourself.\u00a0 <\/strong>People often think that through their efforts they can overcome the sin barrier between themselves and God.\u00a0 That isn\u2019t true.\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing you can do to restore the broken relationship with God.\u00a0 You can\u2019t earn God\u2019s salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:4-5)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>God sent His Son Jesus to remove the sin barrier.\u00a0 <\/strong>The death on the cross of Jesus Christ, God\u2019s Son, removed the sin barrier between you and God.\u00a0 Jesus died for your sins, taking your punishment on Himself.\u00a0 God did for you in Jesus Christ what you couldn\u2019t do for yourself.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(I Peter 2:24; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>You can receive Jesus Christ through faith.\u00a0 <\/strong>Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you rather than trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God.\u00a0 Faith is complete reliance on Christ to put you in right relationship with God, allowing Him to live His life through you.\u00a0 Faith also involves repentance or genuine sorrow for sin and willingness to turn away from sin.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">(John 14:6; Acts 16: 31; Romans 10:9-10)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Through prayer you can trust in Jesus Christ.\u00a0 <\/strong>Admit to God that you are a sinner.\u00a0 Express sorrow or repentance for your sinfulness.\u00a0 Ask God to forgive your sins.\u00a0 Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord.\u00a0 Thank Him for entering your life.\u00a0 Commit yourself to live for Him.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: tahoma;\"><strong>Accepting Christ is the beginning.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">After accepting Him,<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">be obedient by following Christ<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">in baptism and by uniting with a church.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: tahoma;\"><strong>When you do, you will find that life truly<br \/>\ndoes have purpose and meaning.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Talk with another Christian about your decision for Christ.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma;\"><strong>HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF BEULAH BAPTIST CHURCH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><u>By Profession of Faith<\/u><\/strong><strong>.\u00a0 <\/strong>This means that you wish to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and that you want to be baptized as a testimony to what Jesus has done for you.\u00a0 At the time of invitation during the worship service (usually during the singing of the last hymn following the sermon) you are invited to come forward and to share your decision publicly with the congregation.\u00a0 You may share your decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior with the Pastor at any time and he will guide you in following up on your decision to follow Jesus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><u>By Transfer of Membership.<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 You are a member of another Baptist church and wish to transfer your membership to Beulah Baptist Church.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong><u>By Statement of Christian Experience.<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 You are a Christian and have already been baptized by a church of like faith and order and upon your statement of receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and your statement of Believer\u2019s Baptism you wish to become a member of Beulah Baptist Church.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 A Christian has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, tries to obey Him in all things, and draws on His strength to help with the challenges of life. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God made &hellip;
